MAKES’ SCENTS CANDLE CO.
q Place mold on cookie sheet in oven on lowest setting.
q Place melting pot empty on the scales and zero the scales, add wax till desired amount of wax is achieved.
q Place the melting pot into a larger pot with water; this will be your double boiler.
q When the wax begins to melt, place a thermometer into the melting pot. If necessary, add water to the larger pan to maintain an adequate level of water while heating the wax.
q When the wax is completely melted to desired temperature 160º-180º F add color a little bit at a time. Test color by applying a little wax on a light surface. It is best to start out with a little color and add more to make darker if needed. Color will lighten as the wax cools.
q Finally, add the scent desired. We suggest ½ to 1 oz of scent per pound of wax. Do not exceed 1 oz. per pound of wax. Cook the scent into the wax for 10-20 minutes. With heavier oils or larger batches, you may need to cook a little longer.
q Pour from the melting pot into your molds. Make sure wax is between 150º-155ºF when you pour and you may not have to “top off” your candle.
q Once tart is cool, turn mold over and pop the tart out. (If it sticks, you may put it in the refrigerator for few minutes.)
q Allow tarts to dry completely before burning and enjoy!
